Educational Program

The number of diverse activities offered at the Silver Creek Complex prompted the need for a large and comprehensive Educational Program. First and foremost, safe participation in all activities is paramount. Silver Creek management stresses safety awareness, therefore allowing confident learning to take place. Learning is a never-ending process, and Silver Creek enables the learning process by providing professional instruction at all levels. An ever-growing library of literature and videos available to members and students enhances the instructional process.

Silver Creek promotes Equitation, the ‘art’ and practice of horsemanship and horseback riding. Dedicated to increasing professionalism and growing the Equine sports, Silver Creek offers instructional courses. Catering to all breeds of horses and all styles of riding, the instruction at Silver Creek can be diverse and comprehensive or targeted to desired accomplishments. Participants are assessed and placed according to existing skill levels and then advanced toward selected goals. Identification of goals will target the direction of individualized instruction, whether it is toward pleasure riding, show participation, career advancement in training or continued education for instructors.

All instructors are dedicated professionals with histories of successful participation in specialized areas. Director of Education with Silver Creek is long time horse enthusiast and professional Equine Consultant, Margaret Cronia Theobald, “Missy”. While coordinating all riding instructors and participants, Missy personally teaches the beginner classes with a strong educational philosophy to start with a clean slate and to create correct habits of horsemanship for life.
